Happy new year everyone! It’s finally 2020 and I think a lot of people have been waiting for 2019 to finally been over. It’s been quite the year. For me personally it’s been a year full of personal development and the year that I finally finished my scifi/fantasy trilogy The Shaedon Resurgence. So, what happened last year and what will this one look like? Well, I’ve got a lot of big plans, that’s for sure! I’ll be using this last week of my holiday to determine a new set of personal goals that I want to achieve, but suffice it to say, this year will be about writing, reading and sharing my thoughts with you!
Living together
Bren moved in with me on January 26th of 2019, so we’ve been living together with our five lovely kitties for nearly a year now! It’s been a wonderful year and it’s hard to imagine not living together. My house is barely recognisable from what it was, it has become a home now! And we’re continually changing the house little by little. People who come to visit are enthusiastic about it too, because we’re not afraid to show everyone just what a bunch of geeks we really are. Our bond has grown a lot stronger too and I can’t imagine not having Bren in my life anymore.

We just love taking walks in the forest!
Releasing The Xoron Redemption
At the end of March, around my birthday my third and final book of my scifi/fantasy trilogy was released. The Xoron Redemption was received very well by my readers and the blogtour was a great success! I am eager to do it once again once I have my new book released, hopefully later this year! More about that later 😉

Here I was holding my third brainchild at Dutch Comic Con!
Announcing my new project
Once the dust settled around The Xoron Redemption I announced my new project. I still don’t have a final name for the book, but I did reveal the book’s main protagonist/antihero character Biggle Fudgewhizzle. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this character and story and during NaNoWriMo I added 50K words to the manuscript. I’m still proud of that achievement! After November I let the story rest for a moment, because I felt NaNoWriMo was affecting the quality of my work. I am ready now to dive back in though and starting today I’ll be adding at least 500 words to the manuscript daily. Hopefully by the end of the first quarter I’ll be done with the story and Bren and the other proof readers can give me their feedback!

A sketch I made of Biggle Fudgewhizzle, the antihero of my next story!
Changing the way I blog a little
As some of you know I run a blog together with Bren named The Book Dragon’s Nook. It’s a Dutch book blog and I regularly write reviews for it, and columns. Last week we had a little brainstorm session about what we want to achieve with the blog this year. It got me thinking about my own blog and what I want out of it, because I feel that doing the same thing in two languages can be good, but then I was thinking that this is my personal blog and I always wanted this website to be about my thoughts, my writing and generally just things and subjects that keep me busy. So, what I want to do is see if I can put something on this blog on a daily basis. It doesn’t have to be a long article, but just something that keeps me busy, or news that I want to share with you. I’ll probably still post reviews about all the stuff I like (video games, movies, books, LEGO, etc.), but I like challenging myself and see if I can put something on my blog almost every day. So it’ll be more like a journal type of thing. 🙂

Forward is the only way to go!
Moving into 2020
All around me, a lot has changed and people are expecting 2020 to be a new start. 2019 was that year for me, so I am not really seeing this year as a new start. I’ll be improving on all that I have already been laying the foundation for in this year and I’m looking forward to sharing all of my experiences with all of you!
So, what are your plans for this year? Let me know in the comments!
May you all have a great one!
Happy writing!
Jeffrey
Jeffrey, You are so right in that 2020 will be a continuation of your very successful year 2019 with no need for a fresh start!!! –A great review here of your year! Life with Bren certainly agrees with both of you!!! Love is priceless with its “ups” & the few things to work out called “downs.” Next to Love, release of “The Xoron Redemption,” completing your trilogy, had to be up there as #! !!!!!!!!!! What a high for you personally & as an author!!! Over the holidays at a gathering, I described your trilogy & three books to a sci-fi fan & his eyes bulged out in amazement!!! –No request so far for copies! And as you rapidly complete your next novel of a humorous nature, consider listening to yourself, your enthusiasm about your story & main antihero, & what you post about it; i.e., that may be the title of your novel, “Biggle Fudgewhizzle,” & the book cover your very own sketch of him!!!!!!!!!! –It really works!!! “The Book Dragon’s Nook” with Bren is really a success & working out nicely promoting reading & books! And your own blog has been great with your varied topics. Be cautious that a daily small post does not devour you & burden you. I started mine every other week 7 years ago in 2012 with long posts. Then the next year I dropped to once a month & finally my last year 2018 every other month! I keep my blog “alive” & even with NO POSTS in 2019 I still have half the number of views & visits as when I posted in 2018!!!!!!!! One blogger friend of mine, very active & successful, resorted to what he calls “Snippets;” short posts on the same topic for a few days with Snippet 1, Snippet 2, Snippet 3, & so on, until he switches to a new topic. So Jeffrey, carry-on your successful 2019 & parley it into your 2020 with Bren!!! Happy New Year to you both once again! Phil
