What better way to start the year than by adding some colour to one’s life? Bren and I most certainly thought so. Since I’m still on leave from work and we had some extra money to spare, we decided to add some more colour to my mostly white and grey apartment. Those were the colours, along with a deep red that I really liked when I lived here on my own. A lot has changed though and after Bren asked if we could add some more colour to the kitchen and bedroom, I thought: “Why the hell not?”.
We ended up with these colours after some mixing/matching:
Curious which ones go where? I’ll show you later this week, once everything’s done and the paint has dried.
No coffee, no workee
In other news, my coffee machine broke down yesterday. Perfect timing for the new year! I have to give some credit where credit is due, though. That machine has provided me with copious amounts of pure magical liquid, which I turned into several novels, so I am grateful for the service rendered. Today we got a brand new one and so far, it seems to keep my coffee warmer than the previous one, so I’m a happy writer! ^_^
The tranquillity of painting
One thing I really loved about these past two days where we spent some time painting was just how much I love doing it. I suppose it’s mostly due to the fact that you have a direct result for what you’re doing and seeing a new colour replace an old one can be extremely satisfying too. So, if you feel like you haven’t done so in a long time, why not try adding some more colour to your life? 😉

As you can see, we needed to cover our bookcases and kitchen table
We recently bought a book about the psychology of colour and the colours we have chosen were chosen for a reason, so we’re both hoping they’ll turn out great and give us the right mindset when we’re in the bedroom or kitchen! 🙂
For us this year now really feels like we’re starting something new! If you’re looking to start something new, now would be a great time for doing so, although I’d argue that you never should wait until the start of a new year to make a change in your life. It just might make it a little bit easier. And adding some new colour to your life is always a good thing!
Are you planning any big changes this year? Let me know in the comments!
Happy reading!
