“In your actions, don’t procrastinate.
In your conversations, don’t confuse.
In your thoughts, don’t wander.
In your soul, don’t be passive or aggressive.
In your life, don’t be all about business.”
– Marcus Aurelius
This quote by Marcus Aurelius is almost like a mantra. As he wrote to himself, he would often encourage himself with his writings. They weren’t called meditations for nothing! This one really speaks to me in many ways. I am a notorious procrastinator and although I have changed for the better in recent years, the tendency to procrastinate is one I often struggle with. What this mantra really comes down to for me is to focus and be in the moment, but the most important part of the quote has to be the last sentence. Don’t take life too seriously! Work is an important part of life, but it is not life itself.
Have a good one!

Jeffrey, Your Stoic Shorts #5 really “hits it out of the park,” as they say, with Marcus Aurelius! It IS almost like a mantra, as you said, covering so many vital aspects of life. You mention procrastination & work as resonating the most for you. For me, these & all the others are so important. Good choice of Marcus Aurelius for your Stoic Short, Jeffrey!!! Phil
