We’re on day 4 of NaNoWriMo and I have to tell you that I wasn’t expecting to make complete my daily goal during this weekend. On Saturday we had a big day in Antwerp for The Book Dragon’s Nook. We had an interview with Gillian Philip (Erin Hunter) for our blog and it was an absolute delight to do this. I felt really inspired by our visit to the Antwerp Boekenbeurs and that, along with a visit from one of my writer colleagues, Sebastiaan Koen and his wife Lisa, gave me a lot of energy to work on my latest project!
So far, I’m well on target. The NaNoWriMo site seems a bit buggy, because I have a 3 day streak, but for some reason I wasn’t awarded the badge, nor the one for writing over 5K words. But who cares, I know I’m on track and that’s what counts. So far the story counts 5 chapters and the latest chapter counts those 5,628 words mentioned here. Today I’ll start writing on chapter 6 and from here the story really starts to become a wild rollercoaster ride as Fudgewhizzle gets caught up in so much trouble.
I already love the chemistry I’ve created between him and the co-star of the story. They have a similar relationship as Vyrex Apollo and Lerion Prynn did in The Zar’aranos Deception, where they’re stuck with one another, but they also need each other to survive. For some reason I just love writing about characters who get stuck with each other, but they really dislike the other person. It allows for so much hilarious situations where they’re bickering constantly, yet have to work together in order to get out of trouble.

Bren made a sneaky pic of me writing. She blurred the screen with live focus, so no sneak peaking 😉
This week my schedule is all freed up, so I should have plenty of time to write. 5K words seems like a good average amount for a chapter, so that would mean I’m going to finish a couple more chapters this week. I’m not exactly sure how many chapters I’ll need, since I already cut one up into two separate ones, but I really love to make life hard for good ‘ol Fudgewhizzle, haha. And now I’m getting to the point where he’s really going to get caught up in a lot of trouble.
So far I’m right on track, even a little above the average. Today I’ll start a new chapter. After that one, I’ll have to take a look at the plot and check if the story is going the way I want. Either way, it’s great to be in the flow! I just love how I can sit down, watch the words flow and feel even more energised after I’ve finished writing!
How is NaNoWriMo going for you guys? (if you’re participating, of course)
I’ll be back with an update later this week! If all goes well I might even have a new character introduction ready by then! The creative juices are flowing once again! 🙂
Happy writing!
Jeffrey
GO, JEFFREY! Your NaNoWriMo writing productivity sounds as if it is advanced even further by writing about the adventures & antics or Fudgewhizzle & his co-star in the story !!! From all you say, there is no doubt you will continue the intensity and succeed no matter what the digression! If you were able to keep up after you & Bren traveled to Antwerp for the interview & Book Fair, you should have smooth sailing here on. YOU ARE TRULY INSPIRED & DRIVING by the Prime Play or Air !!!
