Review: LEGO® 75170-1 The Phantom II

Rebels was a great show, with a bit of a slow start. I didn’t get the chance to see season 4 yet, so I still have a little way to go, but I love Thrawn and that was reason enough for me to pick up this set quite some time ago. This was one of those sets in my storage that I wanted to build at some point. What better time to build it, so I could use the Thrawn Minifigure in my book picture of “Thrawn” by Timothy Zahn?

Although the box says “The Phantom”, this is actually the Phantom II. The first Phantom was lost during battle, and was replaced by this heavily modified Sheathipede class transport shuttle!

So, digging into the box, we have three bags of bricks, a bunch of stickers, and a nicely sized instruction booklet. as you can see below:

Bag 1 contains part of the Phantom starship and the Kanan Jarrus minifigure. I really love the minifigure. Kanan wasn’t the best character when the show started, but he grew on me as the seasons passed by. I love that this minifigure is the one where he already wears the mask, too!

Bag one is completed!

The mask makes him look like more of a bad ass!

The second bag completes the entire aft section of the Phantom II and also contains Chopper. I’m a sucker for the droids in Star Wars and Chopper was easily one of the most likeable characters in Rebels. He’s kind of like R2-D2 when it comes to being rude, but he’s just different enough to make him feel like a fun character and not just an R2 copy.

The aft section is now complete, including some stickering!

Kanan and C1-10P A.K.A. “Chopper”! 🙂

It was as if LEGO was saving the best for last with this set, because bag 3 contained the Thrawn minifigure and the front section and the fin on top of the aft section. Thrawn’s minifigure has two different face prints, although I chose to go with the most neutral expression, since Thrawn is rarely seen losing his cool. 😉

Grand Admiral Thrawn, one of the Empire’s greatest heroes! 😉 And one of my favourite villains of all time!

I really loved building this set. Even though I don’t have any other Rebels themed sets in my collection, but that’s okay. I got Thrawn and that’s the minifigure I did it all for! Building this set cost me about forty-five minutes. It’s a lovely set, with great minifigures and great displayability!
