Since I’m at home for some time now, what better time to make a clean sweep through the home and see if there’s anything that we can ditch? I’m currently reading “Outer Order, Inner Calm” by Gretchen Rubin and this book is all about ditching stuff you don’t need, giving some handy tips on how to approach everything. The three main questions you have to ask yourself are:
- Do I need it?
- Do I love it?
- Do I use it?
Since you have to start somewhere, I decided to start with my wardrobe, because frankly, I have so much t-shirts and I know I only wear a selection of those. Others were more of the “I fit into this 10 kilograms ago, but I don’t know if I’ll ever fit in them again”-category. So Bren and I went through everything in the closet, including sheets we never use and we only kept some of it for when we have people sleeping over.
We ended up filling three garbage bags filled with clothing and bedding that we never used anymore! We also went through some other stuff that was in the way, but eventually we had already been at it for a couple of hours, so we decided to quit for now. Tomorrow we’re going to give everything that isn’t trash away to the thrift shop in the hopes that some of it will find a new home, especially those things that are still usable. 🙂

This is all the stuff we’ll be moving out of our home tomorrow! And we’re not quite done yet 🙂
Tomorrow I’m going to start clearing out my desk, so I’ll experience some more tranquility while writing. 🙂
Happy reading!

I used to throw away anything if I hadn’t used it in 3 months or more. Then I sold everything I owned and have lived with no more than I can carry in a back pack and never felt more free 🙂
