August 30th, 2018 was the date where I finished up the first draft of the last instalment of my trilogy The Shaedon Resurgence. After that I took a well deserved holiday trip to Ireland. Upon returning I spent the following weeks going through all the feedback from my trusted team of proof readers. Their feedback was extremely valuable and lifted the manuscript to a higher level.

About two weeks later I was done polishing the manuscript and sent it to my publisher, Celtica Publishing. It’s always an exciting moment when you press that send button! Especially because you have to wait a couple of weeks at the least before hearing anything about the quality of your story. When I finally received a message back from Rianne Lampers (she runs Celtica Publishing) her exact words were: “Just wanted to let you know I’ve finished reading the manuscript. You’ve ended the story masterfully. “
Now, when you receive a message like that, if you’re like me, you just don’t know what to reply. Which was exactly what I said back to her. I was glad she loved the ending, because for me it was a bit of a gamble. I know for certain that people will hate me for the ending, but I had to keep it a secret for five years and now my proof readers and my publisher knew the ending and they all reacted positively! I was relieved, excited, and a little bit scared still, though. Because now we were steps closer to release.
In the meantime my friend and coverdesigner Peter Kapritsias was working on the artwork for The Xoron Redemption. After several rounds of feedback we finally received the final version of the cover, including the blurb, and I have to admit, it looks pretty damn awesome! Today I want to show you just a little part of the cover, as a teaser. So, without further ado, here it is!

So, what do you think? Who do you think is on the cover holding what looks like a planet that is crumbling to pieces? And what planet is it? Please let me know your theories in the comments!
This Friday, the 18th of January, I will reveal the entire cover and the blurb to all of you! I am excited to show the entire cover, but just wanted to show you a little piece of it today. I hope to see you all back here on Friday for another instalment of this blog series “Road to Redemption”!
Happy reading!

Jeffrey, YOU TEASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your description of “The Xoron Redemption” coming to fruition with Rainne Lampers & company & the the cover fabulous illustration once again by the marvelous Peter Kapritsias!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a tease to withhold until Friday the entire cover & explanation! Since you give away in part the ending of the trilogy in that readers may be disappointed, my guess is that this partial cover shows the hand of Raz Numera, Xoron Windmaster,, “the only living person who managed to destroy a Shaedon,” & the number one protagonist of the trilogy in my estimation. And my guess is that the planet shown crumbling to pieces is, naturally, Netherea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then I contrast my two guesses against the title, The Xoron Redemption,” & wonder if the ending is so disappointing to readers then how are the Xorons “redeemed”????????? Jeffrey, you have really grabbed you followers/readers with this great promo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes! This is a “win-win” situation for you that you have created. Phil

Thank you Philip! You’ll have to wait until Friday to see who’s on the cover and to learn more, but suffice to say, your rhetoric is sound 😉 The ending isn’t meant to be disappointing, but rather one that will frustrate the readers. I’ve heard from two of my proof readers that I am an evil writer for writing this ending… 😛

As an author of your category of sci fi, you have brought me, a longtime student & teacher & reader of history & biography, to this point of high anticipation about fiction!!! I don’t believe it myself…My interest is so real! Thanks for enriching & adding to my life’s experiences. Phil
