2025 has arrived and after a brief respite and some well deserved rest, I have started work again today. If you’re a frequent reader of my blog, you probably know I’m all about Stoicism, mindfulness and project driven working. Last year I tried some new stuff with monthly goals and some recurring blogs I dubbed “The Goblin Philosopher”. I also wasn’t as frequent with my blogs as before, but that’s because 2024 was a year full of ups and downs, and not just normal ones, but rather extreme ones. Now that the dust has settled, and I’ve taken the time to reflect upon the past period in our lives, I feel confident that 2025 is going to be a grand year indeed.

I was pondering a fun question, about how many paths we walk in life and this year, it’s about three paths for me. Seperate, yet unified in them all being walked by yours truly. I am really excited about this year and everything it’s going to bring. Despite all the bad news that surrounds us, I think it’s important that we focus on making a positive impact in our direct surroundings and that’s what this year is especially about for me.
Walking the path of the Druid
Last year I started reading into Druidism and all that it entails. By the end of the book Druidry Handbook: Spiritual Practice Rooted in the Living Earth, I realised I was already on the path of becoming a Druid. Especially once I started reading the various steps you need to take to become one. Having switch to a meatless, mostly vegan diet, I had already made a very conscious choice. And living a life more in harmony with the seasons and trying to lessen my impact on the world, I feel that this is the right path for me.
This year, I want to continue my journey on this path and I’ve decided that I want to become a Bard, which is the first “level” to become a full fledged Druid, Oviate being the second tier and finally Druid. I feel like this could be what I was meant to be in a world that is so in need of people who actually care about the environment and making the world a better place when they left it.
Walking the path of the Husband
This year will also be an important year for Bren and me. We are planning to handfast and make our bond official. We are looking into two dates to celebrate this occassion, one being the official “governement” marriage, while the other is our handfasting, which is our official way of getting bonded together. I’m really excited about taking these next steps with Bren. Even though I already feel that she is my wife in every regard but the official one, haha.
Bren and I grew closer last year in ways I never thought possible and having common goals to achieve and owning a house together really makes it feel like we’re “adulting” in every right way, while still allowing for enough time for play and silliness. It’s everything I hoped for in a real, interdependent relationship and I can’t wait to finally, officially, say “Yes, I do” to all of that.
Walking the path of the Writer
2025 marks the year where I intend to pick up my creative writing again. I feel like I’m in a place where we finally have the space, time and inspiration to sit down and write an epic science fantasy adventure about two young feline humanoids who will be way in over their heads as they set off on a grand journey on their home planet (and possible other planets in later novels). I am taking inspiration from our two kittens whom we’ve seen grown from cute little furballs to young adults in eight months. I’ve yet to decide whether or not the story will take place in the Ley Lines universe, which I created for my Shaedon Resurgence Saga, or whether it’s going to be something new altogether, but I guess that’s only a detail in the grand scheme of things.
What’s certain is that it will be a story told in five books. It will focus on the duo with a big cast of supporting characters, and antagonists in a world full of mystery, magic and technology!
What are the paths you will walk this year?
I hope I have given you some inspiration for the own paths you will walk this year. What are your plans? Where will your journey take you? Please let me know in the comments below!
Thank you for reading and have a good one!
