A couple of weeks ago I posted a blog about a new path that I have been walking. It’s one that Bren has been easing me into over the past years and that I feel is a bit familiar by now. Recently I finished reading ‘De Weg van de Heks’ by Lunadea (which translates to “The Way of the Witch”) and this post is not so much a review of the book as it is a massive appreciation post for it. Usually when I write book reviews, I do them in the language of the book, but I feel that that isn’t necessary and I want to keep my blog English, because that’s the primary language that I feel most comfortable expressing myself in.
Confirmations and affirmations
After I finished the last page of Lunadea’s book and closed the book I took a few deep breaths and just sat for a moment. It was on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago that I finished the last pages and I’d finished the book in a week, mostly reading bits during my commute to work. I learned quite a lot from the book and it’s definitely one of the best starting points for anyone who’s interested in the path of Witchcraft and what it can bring you.

Some of the passages and pages I read were a big confirmation for me. A confirmation that I had already gained a lot of knowledge over the past few years on the subject, having been exposed to it by Bren in a very gradual and comfortable way. By that I mean that Bren asked me if I wanted to participate in certain festival rituals, during which she explained the deeper meaning of the festival itself and its significance. What really struck me was just how mindful every of these rituals is. During each of the eight year festivals what you do is mostly be in the moment and become aware of the seasons and I soon saw how attuned to nature a witch really is.
What the book also did was affirm that the current road I’m walking is in accordance with (my own) nature. I’ve been searching for a certain sense of purpose for a while, and although I’m pretty confident about myself and what I stand for, I also feel that spending more time in nature suits me very well. Besides that, moving with the seasons gives the years a certain cadence that I think everyone should try to adopt. We tend to be extremely busy with appointments and visits to family and friends every weekend, but rarely take the time to wind down. In daily life, we barely live in the moment and experience life as we are living it. We are lived by busy calendars and pushed to conform to society. It’s no wonder so many of us are burned out and stressed out.
The Road Ahead is Empty
It’s paved with miles of the unknown. Right? Well what I know is that my road is not anywhere from over. In fact, the road never really ends and whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be there, with open eyes and open arms.
Have a nice week and stay tuned for more!
