It’s the weekend and that means I’ll be taking it easy, mostly. ๐ This weekend Bren is away from home and she’s going shopping with her best friend, Robin. That means I have the place to myself and I invited two of my best friends over, Wouter and Niels.
Wouter I’ve known since I was eight years old. We were in the same class together at elementary school and we grew up together, which created a really solid bond. I only lost sight of him when we both went to different schools after elementary school, but at some point I really missed my old friend and we reconnected. We never lost contact after that. ๐

Niels came into our lives at a later age, when we were at the beginning of our twenties. I was planning to have a LAN-party at my home, because I had the place all to myself. My dad was selling our old house and I was still living there to keep an eye on the place, while my dad already lived with his new girlfriend (who later became my new stepmom). I had invited about eight people over, including Wouter and Niels. But in the end everybody had cancelled and only those two guys showed up. A little disappointed that it wasn’t going to be a full blown LAN-party, we still decided to have a fun weekend. After that Niels became part of the gang and we’ve been firm friends ever since.

A pretty recent picture of Niels during a gig with his other band: King Drive
This weekend we’ll be reliving those old days again, playing videogames and enjoying each other’s company. We’ve been doing this for years, besides making music. First with a metalcore band called Polydrone and now with a band calledย Vampire Bordello.ย There’s nothing quite like these two guys and we know each other inside and outside. We’ve shared a lot of good times, and also some pretty bad times, but we never let each other down and always were there for each other. It’s rare to find friends like these and that’s why I am writing this. To show my gratitude and celebrate our friendship. One day I’ll probably work our unique friendship into a novel of sorts. ๐
I hope you all have a nice weekend and enjoy yourselves!
Happy weekend!

Jeffrey, Nice to meet here Wouter & Neils & hear about your lasting friendships & bond “come hell or high water”!!! And ah, the connection with them with your bands Polydrone and now Vampire Bordello. Sometime tell us about your two bands! Nice photo of the three of you. Raise some hell together while Bren’s away! We sure did Philip! It was a fun weekend, including dinner at a Japanese restaurant here in Uithoorn! One of the absolute best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been to! I’ll make sure to cover my old and new band in a future blog! ๐
