As you know, the past week hasn’t been so good for me at work. Bren decided to cheer me up with this little book by Nathan W. Pyle! It’s the first published work of Strange Planet, a web comic that I’ve been following on Facebook for some time now. They’re always good for a laugh! 🙂
What makes Strange Planet so funny is the recognizable situations the “beings” find themselves in. They all show us how weird people and our little planet really are. The use of synonyms is what makes them all the more fun. Nathan W. Pyle shows us how every day situations can be really strange to outsiders.
The art direction of the comics is simple, but also very endearing. What this little book excels at is in its execution. The comics are in full colour and the comics are a compilation ordered by theme. The end of the book also contains a list of every day objects with the synonym name used in the Strange Planet comics. They’re very funny!
This little book is a big recommendation as a gift for a friend or family member. It’s a fast read and you’ll finish it in no time, but the comics are sure to bring a smile to the reader’s face! It’s as if you’re holding up a mirror to yourself and see just how weird human behavior can be! I had a few really good laughs about them!
This is one of those books that you can just pick up whenever you want to flip through and read a few funny comics. Even the ones I already knew were still funny to read! I really hope there will be more of these! A real tip!
